Android privacy policy
Effective October 28, 2026 · Rexing Connect Lite for Android
This policy explains how Rexing Inc. (Rexing) handles information in Rexing Connect Lite for Android. It covers the Android app and its optional diagnostic-report service at app.rexingnj.com. External Rexing websites, Google services and other apps have their own privacy policies.
You do not need a Rexing account to use Lite. Product registration is optional. Lite does not contain advertising or send push marketing messages. Android may show local download-progress notifications.
Your camera and videos
Lite connects to your dash cam over its local Wi-Fi network to show live video, read recordings, download selected files and change supported settings. Saved videos and any GPS data embedded in them are processed on your phone. Lite does not upload your video files, screenshots or complete recorded GPS tracks to Rexing's report server.
Videos, editing copies, thumbnails, settings and media metadata may be stored in the app's private storage. If you save a video or screenshot to Gallery, that copy is stored in Android's media library. Other apps with appropriate access, or a photo-backup service you use, may then access or upload that copy under their own settings.
When you choose Share or Edit, Android gives the app you select access to the selected media or a working copy. The selected editor or sharing service controls its subsequent processing and saved output. Your exported media may contain a recorded date, location or other embedded information.
Recorded GPS and maps
Lite can read supported GPS information embedded in camera recordings. It does not request permission to obtain your phone's current GPS location. Recorded positions may still be personal information, even when they describe an earlier journey.
When an online GPS map is displayed, Lite uses Google Maps SDK for Android. Map requests expose the area being viewed to Google. The SDK can also collect device and SDK metadata, an SDK-specific pseudonymous identifier, network IP address, map-interaction information, and SDK crash or diagnostic information. Google processes this information under its own policies. Offline route rendering does not need an online map service.
When a screenshot preview includes an online road map, Lite requests a small set of map tiles from tile.openstreetmap.org. The tile addresses identify the map area being displayed; the provider also receives the request's IP address and an app-version user-agent. The video frame and complete route are not sent to this tile service. Lite draws route overlays locally and may cache tiles on the phone. Without internet or if the map cannot load, a local route drawing is used where GPS data is available.

Local diagnostics and optional feedback
Lite keeps a bounded local diagnostic history to help investigate connection, download and playback problems. It includes technical facts such as app version, Android version, phone manufacturer and model, camera protocol and firmware, private camera network address, connection state, operation timing and sanitized error information.
Automatic diagnostic fields are filtered to exclude video contents, raw media filenames, Wi-Fi names and passwords, MAC addresses, public IP addresses, persistent phone identifiers and recorded GPS coordinates or tracks. The network request used to send a report necessarily exposes an IP address to the receiving network infrastructure.
Reports are not uploaded automatically. You can review the support form, add an optional comment, and explicitly choose to send a report to Rexing over HTTPS. Anything you type in that comment is included as written; please do not include passwords or sensitive personal information. Each report has a randomly generated report ID used to match the submission and avoid duplicate retries. This is not a persistent identifier for your phone.
If sending fails, a private pending report and comment may remain on your phone for a later retry. Export logs instead creates a local report that you can share through an app you choose. Opening diagnostics or seeing a help or review prompt does not itself send a report.
How Rexing uses reports
Rexing uses submitted reports and comments to troubleshoot faults, respond to feedback, maintain the report service and improve compatibility, speed and stability. Reports are stored in a private database and are accessible to authorized support administrators. They are not displayed publicly or used for advertising. Hosting and network infrastructure process requests to operate and protect the service.
Request deletion of a support report
Reports are retained for support, troubleshooting and service operation, and can be deleted by an authorized administrator. To request deletion of a Rexing Connect Lite report and its comment, use Rexing Contact Us or email care@rexingusa.com. State that your request concerns Rexing Connect Lite and include the report ID shown after submission, so an administrator can locate the report. No Lite account is needed. Do not send us your dash cam or phone passwords. Google and OpenStreetMap handle their own service data under the policies linked above; Rexing cannot directly delete data held independently by those providers. This policy does not promise a fixed retention period for third-party services.
Your choices
- Use camera connection, local playback and downloads without a Rexing account.
- Use an offline GPS route instead of an online map when internet is unavailable or the map view is not used.
- Choose whether to export or submit diagnostic reports and whether to include a comment.
- Use Clear logs in diagnostics to remove the local diagnostic history, temporary exports, pending report and saved report reference. This does not delete reports already received by Rexing.
- Delete downloaded videos in the app and remove separately saved Gallery copies through your Gallery app. Uninstalling Lite removes app-private data but may leave media you saved in Gallery.
- Control app permissions, notification access, photo-backup services and other apps through Android settings.
Security and network connections
Diagnostic submissions and the online map services named above use HTTPS. Communication with a dash cam follows its firmware's local protocol and may use unencrypted HTTP or RTSP within the camera's Wi-Fi network. Protect that network with a suitable Wi-Fi password and connect only to a camera you trust.
Lite does not require an account or store an account password. Its report service limits report size and request rates and restricts administrative access. No system can guarantee absolute security.
External links and reviews
Optional links open product registration, the Rexing store, customer support or the app's Google Play listing. Information you provide on those services is governed by their policies. Public app reviews are handled by Google Play. You can choose a public review, private feedback or neither; private feedback is not a requirement for leaving a review.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app or its services change. The effective date above identifies this version. For privacy questions, support or a report-deletion request, contact Rexing Inc. through Rexing Contact Us.
